Iacopo Pasquinelli was born in 1964 in Florence, Italy. He began designing as a child and continued to draw and paint as an adult. He studied for two years at the studio of painter Tiziano Bonanni and later continued to paint in his own studio, experimenting with different painting techniques to achieve desired moods. Inspired by the majestic beauty of the Mugello region of Tuscany, Iacopo has recently painted the Mugello Series, which includes landscapes of the area near his summer home, an area that continues to fascinate and move him.
Iacopo has recently moved to New York and is now interpreting what is striking to him about the coastals areas of New York and Connecticut - "the immense and luminous sky that touches the horizon in far off places without the interfernce of hills". He is awed by the coast where the land and water unexpectely flow directly into the sky. Consequently, his paintings reflect is search for the representation of the depth in these horizons.
Iacopo captures the essence of a landscape by portraying his first impression of the scene. He believes that the emotional response to a scene is made at first sight, before the eyes can make out the details in the particulars.
He mixes his colors directly on the painting surface, which gives his paintings a certain transparency. The colors are than carefully blended, leaving no visible signs of brushstrokes. Owing to this technique, his paintings have a "subtle luminosity" (Helen A. Harrison, New York Times).
Iacopo has won recognition and praise for is artwork. His work said to be "lyrical" and to have "poetical authority".
His artwork is in private collections in Europe and the United States. His art is available at Left Bank Gallery Essex CT, at MRK Gallery Port Jefferson NY and at his studio in Long Island, NY.
